"In America"
"In America" is fabulous. WhyY is this great film not more well known?! An Irish family, father, mother and two young daughters, immigrates to Manhattan to find a new future. It is mesmerizing and enchanting! It is at your Blockbuster now so go rent it this weekend.
The film is based on the real life of master storyteller Jim Sheridan ("My Left Foot," "In the Name of the Father") and it has such a depth of humanity that you will be left teary-eyed but uplifted at the end.
The film HAS what is missing from so much modern entertainment: soul! It is intelligent and unpredictable with unlikely heroes like the dying artist played by Djimon Hounsou or the irrepressible young daughter whose energy holds the family together played by little Emma Bolger.
